Origin and characteristics of the Pink Tomato
The pink tomato is, like all tomato varieties, native to South America. It has round fruits and firm flesh. Botanically speaking, tomatoes are considered fruits because they are the result of the transformation of an ovary found into a flower.

Pink tomatoes have a sweet, fruity flavor. Average weight per fruit: 400 g. They can be ripe all summer long, light pink in color, turning pastel red when ripe.

How and when to plant tomato Pink Magic
Sowing pink tomatoes should be started in late winter or early spring, in a warm bed (20 °) or indoors or in a heated greenhouse, in fine planting soil. Tomatoes need a constant minimum of 20 ° C to germinate.

Prepare seedlings or pots with garden soil and some organic compost and bury your pink tomato seeds at 1 cm and then cover them with planting soil. Water the potting soil with a sprayer to keep it moist but not soggy. Put the seedlings near a window to prevent your seedlings from turning upward for light.

Note: For sowing, relatively fine potting soil is used to allow the seed to feel the effects of the light and grow properly.

How to transplant pink tomatoes
Transplanting pink tomatoes should be done when frost is no longer a concern and the plants reach 12 to 15 cm in rich, loose and healthy soil. To grow pink tomatoes in the garden they should be planted at a distance of 70 cm between the rows and 50 cm on the sunny side of the row.

Put the stakes in place before you start planting. Then abundantly water the feet once a week to avoid the development of diseases. Be careful not to wet the foliage as it can cause the appearance of diseases such as powdery mildew or other fungi.

Note: it is possible to grow the pink tomato in a pot as long as it is 60 cm deep.

Pink tomato care
The pink tomato requires vigilance when watering, so the use of mulch is recommended to prevent the sun from evaporating the water quickly, in addition, the mulch protects the soil from ultraviolet rays, preventing its degradation.

Keep in mind that when transplanting your pink tomato plants you must water generously, and then suspend watering for 15 days to encourage the development of the root system.

Then water at least twice a week or more depending on the appearance of the foliage. Remember to water only at the feet of the plant without wetting the leaves.

To optimize plant development and harvest, it is necessary to eliminate the „greedy“. These sprouts take in the nutrients intended for the fruit, so it is essential to remove them. In the image you can see exactly what are the greedy and where to cut.

Greedy Tomatoes
Another necessary care is that as the plant grows, the stem must be attached to a stake so that it does not break and the plant can grow as straight up as possible.

Note: In the case of a pink tomato potted crop, three stems should be allowed to develop for a good harvest.

When to harvest pink tomatoes
Pink tomatoes can be harvested about four months after planting. The fruit can be harvested pink or red. Ideally, pick the fruit a few minutes before eating to preserve all its flavor. The pulp of the pink tomato is juicy and firm, making it very good for salads.

Enemies of the pink tomato
The main problems that can be found in pink tomato cultivation are mold and apical necrosis.

To avoid mold, the best solution is to protect your plants if you live in an area where rain is frequent. You can also make a treatment based on a Bordeaux mixture or Bordeaux mixture. Here you can learn to make and apply Bordeaux mixture.

Apical necrosis is not a disease. It is a too low calcium content in the soil or an irregularity in irrigation. When the plant lacks water, it makes less sap and the part of the stem farthest from the plant will die from lack of food. Therefore, water regularly, for example once a week.
There are several varieties of pink tomatoes on the market, including pink heirloom tomatoes, pink Momotaro (Japanese heirloom tomatoes) and pink cherry tomatoes. These tomatoes easily grow like regular red tomatoes and can be successfully raised with a few simple tips.

instruction
1 Sell pink tomato seeds or pink starter tomato plants. As more tomato varieties are bred around the world, pink tomatoes are becoming more common. If they are not available at your local garden store, don’t worry; it will be easy to order different kinds of pink tomato seeds online.

2 Choose pots and a growing space or an outdoor garden space. Pink tomatoes grow well in pots or in outdoor gardens as long as the area gets enough sunlight. Choose a space to shelter from deer, because they eat tomato plants. Pots grow well on a sunny balcony away from deer. kitchen gardens may require a fence or net to protect tomatoes and other plants from starving animals.

3 Prepare the ground. Both the National Gardening Association and Martha Stewart recommend fertilizing the soil with 5-10-10 ratio manure before planting any type of tomatoes. Follow the instructions that come with the fertilizer and add it to the soil about a week before planting the tomatoes.

4 plant holes dig. Pink tomatoes require the same planting procedure as any other tomato variety. The National Gardening Association recommends that gardeners dig holes at least 18 inches apart for garden tomatoes. For potted tomatoes, dig a hole in each round or square pot, or dig holes at least 18 inches apart in large rectangular valley pots. For starter plants, drill the holes deep enough to hold all of the plant’s roots, without burying them too far below the surface of the soil. For seeds, follow the instructions that come with the seeds and dig small holes. Most types of tomato seeds need to be covered with about 1/8 inch of moist soil. Some gardeners choose to plant tomato seeds in small starter pots and transfer young plants to larger or garden pots at a later time, but the seeds will also grow in larger or garden pots.

5 Put a small amount of plant fertilizer at the bottom of planting holes.

6 Cover the seeds or roots of the plants with moist soil. Most tomato seeds need a cover of about 1/8 inch of soil and starter tomato plants just need to have enough soil to cover all of their roots.

7 Add tomato poles, trellises or cages. Tomato plants grow best when they have support. Supports help plants hold up their fruit and make gardens more efficient by minimizing the amount of space each plant occupies. It is best to add one of these supports at the same time as tomatoes are planted. As the plant grows, loosely tie its stems to the supports using a natural string, such as twine.

8 Water the plants regularly. Both the National Gardening Association and Martha Stewart recommend keeping tomato plants’ soil moist, but not over-soaked.

9 Prune the plants. Tomatoes grow more fruit if they don’t have too many stems, so cut off the extra stems that start growing around the base of the plant. Each plant should only be allowed to have 1-3 stems. This limitation helps the plant harvest its energy for fruit production rather than for leaf and stem growth. With proper pruning and watering, many tomato plants will produce fruit in a matter of weeks.

Advice and warnings
Choose a pink tomato variety that suits the growing environment. Since there are now more types of pink tomatoes, gardeners can choose the varieties that suit different spaces. Smaller plants, such as cherry tomatoes or plants considered patio varieties, grow well in pots. Heirloom tomatoes and other large types grow best in gardens with plenty of space.
Tomatoes generally need a lot of sunlight, but tomatoes in extremely hot climates may need some shade to help prevent their flowers from getting burned and falling off.

Image Pink Elephant Tomato: Big and Sweet The care of the tomato „pink elephant“ is very demanding, but if you provide the necessary conditions: suitable temperature and humidity, loose and nutritious soil, this variety will definitely bring you the joy of harvest. Advertisement The varieties are described as follows: „Pink Elephant“ refers to the early varieties of tomatoes. The first fruit can be removed 110-115 days after emergence. The plant is tall and powerful. Its height reaches 1.7 m. To obtain a large tomato, its stepson must be transformed into a stem and then tied to a support. The fruit of this variety is painted in raspberry color and has a round and slightly flat shape on both sides. The skin is quite dense and has a shiny surface. Ripe tomatoes are dark pink. It can be removed during the milk ripening stage. Tomato „Pink Elephant“ can ripen at room temperature. The gardener’s comment said that the fruits are not ripened on plants, but ripen at home, and will not lose their taste. The characteristics of the „pink elephant“ are only positive. Gardeners noticed many advantages, including: Advertisement High productivity (4 kg per bush); Large fruit Pleasant sweetness; Fleshy Resistant to late blight and pests. Cultivation method of tomato variety „Fenxiang“ The conditions needed to grow pink elephants are: Fertile loose soil; Enclosed ground High humidity, frequent watering and timely topdressing. This tomato grows only in seedlings. The landing should preferably start in March. Before operation, it is recommended to treat the seeds in a dilute solution of potassium permanganate, wrap them in a flax bag, and drop them in the liquid for 30 minutes. After the program is completed, the planting materials are washed with clean water and dried. Advertisement Then proceed to the preparation of planting materials. In order to make the sprouts friendly and the seedlings short and healthy, experienced gardeners recommend stimulating the seeds for subsequent vegetation planting. This is done using a growth stimulant, including Epin-Extra, Agat-25K or the drug Immunocytophyte. Follow the recommendations specified in the instructions. In addition, excellent results can be obtained by processing natural stimulant aloe juice. After that, it is recommended that the planting material germinate. To do this, you must: Pour warm water into the dish, then moisten a cotton cloth with water. The treated seeds were then placed on the wet material in a light pink potassium permanganate solution. Cover the top planting material with a damp cloth and place the dish in a warm and bright place. After the seeds hatch, you can start planting. Stages of the process of planting seeds: The seedling box is equipped with a light nutrient substrate (you can use ready-made universal seedling soil, or you can mix garden soil (2 parts), humus (1 part) and sand (1 part) together. Wet the substrate and form shallow grooves on its surface. They carefully arranged the hatching seeds of the pink elephant tomato and covered it with a substrate. Containers with platforms must be placed in a warm and bright place. After 5-7 days, the first bud will appear. After 3-4 true leaves appear, the seedlings are immersed in a separate flower pot. Planting in the greenhouse was carried out at a stable positive temperature at the end of May. The distance between seedlings is 0.8-1 m. In the future, the planting of crops will be reduced to regular watering, weeding, and loosening of the soil. Plants need to be pinched, all side branches must be cut off, and no tree stumps should be left. The bushes form a stem, so large fruits can absorb more nutrients. Advertisement The way of watering and feeding tomatoes „Pink Elephant“ To make the fruit more sugary, experienced gardeners recommend watering tomatoes with water, salt and ashes. In 10 liters of water, you need to pour 1 tablespoon. Wood ash and a tablespoon. Lake salt. Pour 0.5 liters of ash and salt solution under each bush, and the tomatoes become sweeter and more fleshy. In addition, the „pink elephant“ also likes to water by adding fertilizer or grass. The components are kept in the bucket, and then 1 liter of organic fertilizer is added to 10 liters of water. Good and proper tomato care should also include pink elephant foliar fertilizer, which helps to quickly absorb nutrients during flowering. For this process, it is necessary: Pour 1 tablespoon of ash and 1 liter of hot water and let it brew for 2 days. Filter the solution and dilute with water in a ratio of 1:10. Spray liquid tomatoes on the leaves. Such an irrigation system will enable you to grow high-quality crops and get delicious big fruits.

Origin and history of tomatoes
As the name suggests, the ‘Berner Rose’ variety comes from Switzerland and is also known under the name ‘Rose de Berne’. The tomato is a historic, old variety, but it is still very popular today.

Tomato variety ‘Berner Rose’: taste and properties
The ‘Berner Rose’ is a pink, highly aromatic beefsteak tomato. Its thin-skinned, soft fruits measure about five to seven centimeters in diameter and weigh about 200 grams. Their taste is sweet, but also spicy with a pleasant acidity. The fruits of the Bernese rose tomato can be shaped differently: round, slightly flattened or slightly ribbed. It ripens from the beginning of August and, although not too many, produces wonderfully tasting fruits. The ‘Berner Rose’ is a non-seed-resistant variety from which you can obtain seeds yourself, dry them and sow them again next year.

Bernese rose tomato: cultivation outdoors and in pots
The historic beefsteak tomato prefers to stand in the greenhouse, but it also gets along very well with the cooler outdoors. The ‘Berner Rose’ is a bit sensitive, especially when it comes to rain. If the water supply is irregular, the fruits tend to burst open and blossom end rot. When grown outdoors, the tomato should therefore urgently be placed under a rain cover, in a pot on a protected, warm house wall. When planting in mid-May, a special substrate, such as our Plantura organic tomato and vegetable soil, supports your plant in rooting and stimulates flowering.

How to grow tomatoes from seeds?
Sowing tomato seeds
The seeds should be sown in a fairly light substrate, the seed soil being specifically designed to be both draining and water-retaining, and to allow the seeds to germinate easily.

You can opt for bins, small pots or any other container. The smallest are individual containers, you can germinate 1 seed (you can however put several for more chances). Too small to accommodate plants of several weeks, they are perfect if you plant quickly after sowing, otherwise transplanting is mandatory. In larger ones, like tubs, you will put a large number of seeds and then you will have to thin out.

How to successfully plant tomatoes?
Tomatoes keep warm during germination (about 1 week), so indoors near a heat source or in a heated mini-greenhouse because they require a temperature of 20 to 25 °.

Once germinated, they will still need heat, but from there 18 to 20 ° is sufficient (knowing that the warmer the temperature the faster they develop). On the other hand, they need a lot of light at this stage. A lack of light causes the plants to spin, that is to say, the thin stems stretch out as much as they can to fetch that light that they are sorely lacking. The stems will then have a hard time expanding …

Like all seedlings, tomato seedlings require good humidity to thrive. You will be careful to keep the soil moist, but without soaking it, too much moisture is bad for almost all plants.

If you transplant your plants into slightly larger pots before the final installation, consider bringing them a little compost which will give them a welcome surplus of nutrients.

When to sow tomato seeds?
Tomato seeds are usually sown between the months of February and March. This of course depends on your climate, the sooner you can plant them the sooner you will need to sow them. It also depends on where they are going to grow, the greenhouse providing a more protected environment than a garden so tomatoes can be planted there sooner.

Be careful, however, not to sow them too early: young tomatoes need a lot of light, and this is not really the case in the heart of winter. In addition, sowing them very early requires you to transplant them several times, which can weaken the plants. Indeed, it is completely inadvisable to leave your tomato plants for 3 or even 4 months in the mini-buckets used for sowing !!!!

Growing tomatoes in a bottle
Sowing bottled tomatoes is a good method for strong plants, but it still requires enough space! Indeed, rather than sowing in individual pots or in a tank and transplanting or thinning afterwards, you will, thanks to this individual container, offer each young plant good conditions (space, confined and humid atmosphere and nutrients) to flourish well.

Each bottle is cut in 2, approximately ⅔ above the bottom. It is filled with 5 to 10 cm of moist sowing soil, then the seeds are installed there, 1 per bottle. The time of germination then the first 2 to 3 weeks, the bottles keep their top (which can be taped), this will allow to keep heat and humidity. Remember to humidify when needed. Once the plants are well developed, 4 or 5 leaves, you can start to butter them: fill with good enriched potting soil until the first leaves, and the cover is no longer necessary. You will crash every time the stem rises a few inches above the soil.

Your tomato plants can be planted directly as soon as the weather permits.

Grow to Matt cherries or classics in an apartment is not recommended, our homes do not offer them enough light and your feet will remain slender and puny, so little or not productive.

Can you grow tomatoes without water?
Saving water is never unnecessary, and the tomato is a vegetable plant that can get used to a lack of water. Of course she will not live without water at all, but she may be better able to get water from deep in the soil and accept being thirsty on a daily basis.

From its first weeks (sowing your own seeds is therefore essential) it is possible to give it good habits:

In pots or tubs, bring water to your young seedlings from the bottom: place the containers in a tub in which you will pour water when watering. The plants will thus “push” the roots downwards to collect this water. On the contrary, if you water normally, the roots will stay close to the surface.
Seeding and bottling produces sturdy plants with deep and substantial roots.
When planting, bury the stems deeply.
Then 2 possibilities: grow your tomatoes on unworked and mulched soil with a thick plant layer enriched every winter that maintains good humidity without watering, or gradually adapt your tomatoes to drought generation after generation by harvesting the seeds each time .

Can you grow tomatoes in water?
There are two ways to grow tomatoes in water:

Hydroponics, used extensively in industrial greenhouses, involves growing tomatoes in nutrient-laden water. It requires a lot of fertilizer and the water, which must be changed regularly, is discharged polluted.
Aquaponics is a complex system that relies on the ecosystem created between tomatoes or other cultivated vegetables and fish. These produce nitrogenous waste which, once transformed by bacteria and other naturally occurring organisms, will feed the plants. In doing so, they recycle, filter the water, which returns to the fish tanks, and so on.
Contrary to what one might think, these systems require much less water than traditional tomato cultivation, especially aquaponics which is in a closed circuit.

To grow tomatoes well, it’s important to get off to a good start: tomatoes pampered from an early age and at the same time prepared not to take it easy will be robust and vigorous. Deep roots and thick stems are the prerequisite for strong feet! The tomato is however of a rather flexible character, it will be able to produce just as well installed in a pot on a balcony or in a greenhouse as in a vegetable garden in the sun as long as it benefits from a sufficiently rich soil.
Ripe, juicy and sweet homemade tomato in the sun is one of the most valuable gifts of the summer garden. However, the taste depends not only on the method of cultivation, but also on the variety chosen. And when growing from seed, we have a huge selection.

We can choose varieties of tomatoes with fruits of various sizes, shapes and colors. The salads are delicious sweet cocktail tomatoes. Giant fleshy varieties with a larger proportion of flesh and small seeds are ideal for pasta sauce, but also for grilling and sandwiches. Tomatoes can be not only red, but also pink, yellow, brindle and almost black, and it is not only about the variety of appearance, but also about other interesting tastes and healthy substances. It is worth growing more varieties, testing and comparing. And from non-hybrid varieties to keep the seeds for another year.

Nice look or taste?
Modern hybrid varieties sometimes pleasantly surprise with their sweet taste, especially in the case of cocktail tomatoes, for which the taste has been taken into account in breeding. But often the appearance is more flawless, fertility and durability are decent, but we do not find the exceptionally delicious taste that we expect from homemade tomatoes, even with well-ripened fruits. If the varieties were bred not specifically for small growers for domestic consumption, but for large-scale growers and commercial sales, the selection is focused on other characteristics. For example, on the shelf life of the fruit, so they have a very stiff skin repair.

Or for perfect coloring, because the yellow-green spots, which often remain around the stem in the case of tomatoes, are undesirable. However, home-grown tomato lovers may have noticed that just such fruit tastes great. The cause may be just enough chlorophyll, a green dye, in the fruit. Photosynthesis runs at full speed and sugar is stored on site, in a tomato. In order for the spots to disappear, the plant had to be made to degrade the fruit faster during ripening. We know this by the fact that they are only very light green before the color change – and then solid red. However, the tax for a perfect look without a patch, which we would simply cut off, is less sweet and expressive, in short, less heavenly taste. Of course, tomatoes can also be perfectly red (or yellow, purple …), chlorophyll does not always have to be suppressed in the fruit in order to be perfectly colored. However, before ripening, they tend to be deep green, not pale.

Stick and bush
There are more bar varieties, ie varieties that require support (indeterminate, with unfinished growth) and are grown much more often. They take up less space in width, allow you to use space in height. They grow well against walls and under shelters – protection from rain is a prevention of fungal diseases. During their growth, we break out their side shoots, their leaves so that the plants do not branch. There are also alternative ways of growing on a wider support and without stinging. Under good conditions, the plant can bear even more than the plant, only a little later, and the fruit may be smaller. The disadvantage is the denser tangle of leaves, more susceptible to fungal diseases – then a lot depends on a suitable place and support.

Shrub varieties (determinant, with completed growth) grow according to the variety no more than a meter in height, but they also need space to grow in width. The lateral shoots do not break out, it is on them that the plant bears the most fruit. Bush tomatoes are ideal for boxes and containers for balconies, especially if it is not raining on them. In rainy weather, it is more difficult to protect against fungal diseases.

Resistance to potato blight
Unfortunately, resistance to the potato blight (Phytophora infestans) is rather rare in tomatoes. The mold itself has multiple lines and ways of multiplication, so resistance to it is difficult. Some new varieties have a certain resistance to it, mostly hybrids. Sometimes we can find partial resistance in old varieties and wild tomatoes are very promising in this respect. It is advantageous to grow especially early varieties of tomatoes, it is more difficult to defend against late molds. And we will also focus on diversity, which brings not only the discovery of new flavors of fruit, but also possible resistance to disease.

If we grow our own seedlings, we are at least sure of a clean start – seedlings, especially if they are imported, can already hide the germ of the pathogen.
