How to make a decorative water area with different types of water effects in the garden? Decorative water area of artificial stone
Water areas are an integral part of landscaping of gardens and yards. In this article we will present you a few easy steps and rules for building garden water areas.
The first step is to choose a suitable place so that it can be seen from as many places in the yard (if the water area will be an accent).
It is not good to be near trees (deciduous) because in the fall you will have to clean quite often.
Second step: outline the shape you want (maybe with a garden hose or rope). It is good to pre-determine the places for ornamental plants, aquatic plants or places for sowing seeds of flower varieties.
The third step is to dig the hole. Outline the pond by driving a straight shovel along the contour, then remove the rope (or hose).
Dig to a depth of 30 cm and with the same width make a new outline of the shoreline inwards – this will be the step for the coastal plants (shelf) of your decorative water area.
Decorative water area in a park environment With a level and a board, level the shelf so that it is at the same depth under the water. Continue digging along the inner contour until you reach the desired depth.
If you are going to raise ornamental fish at one end, dig up to 1.20 m. There will be their refuge for the winter. After digging, tamp the trench (tread it well) and sprinkle with 3 cm of moist sand.
Fourth step – over the dug hole spread the cladding so that it comes out evenly on all sides, and clamp with the tiles that you have provided for the curb.
Gently and gradually press down until the center of the lining rests on the bottom. Go inside and start carefully spreading the lining on the bottom and the shelf, filling with water at the same time.
Beautiful decorative water area The weight of the water will help you lay the lining tightly (1 cubic meter of water weighs 1 ton). At the end of the pond, make a border of bricks, slabs or stones (of your choice), which will clamp and cover the cladding completely and hang at least 5 cm above the water.
Masonry bricks with cement mortar and be careful not to fall into the water, because it is highly toxic to some aquatic plants and fish. If it falls, be sure to empty the pond and wash it.
The last stage follows – the arrangement (in the photos made by elliottbledsoe and Andrew Rollinger we show you examples). Carefully choose the plants you will use, study them. Also for fish. In the deep part it is good to drop a broken jar or larger stones to create a cave-like shelter for the fish. Use your imagination and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
